JIC Venture Growth Investments (VGI) has acquired the shares in NOVIGO Pharma Inc. (NOVIGO Pharma), through its JIC Venture Growth Fund 2.

NOVIGO Pharma is a healthcare company established in 2021 based on the research of nanoparticle-based delivery technology at Kyushu University, aiming for the social implementation ranging from cosmetics to therapeutics by leveraging their nanoparticle delivery technology capable of penetrating biological barriers.

Drug delivery technology, which delivers active ingredients to the necessary sites within the body, goes hand in hand with the research and development of the active ingredients themselves, and requires modifications tailored to each specific ingredient. NOVIGO Pharma’s Solid-in-Oil (S/O®) technology, which enhances the absorption efficiency of active ingredients into the skin, has already been applied to commercially available cosmetics. Additionally, NOVIGO Pharma is advancing clinical development with the aim of applying its nanoparticle technology, which introduces therapeutic molecules into extracellular vesicles and delivers them to target tissues, to broader healthcare applications, including next-generation therapeutic solutions.

The significance of this investment is to support research and development at NOVIGO Pharma and aim to accelerate the commercialization of products incorporating their novel drug delivery technologies. Since there are still unmet needs in healthcare sector, it is also expected to contribute to the realization of a healthy and long-lived society.

With this investment, VGI will accelerate the social implementation ranging from cosmetics to pharmaceuticals based on novel nanoparticle technology and contribute to the activation of startup ecosystem by supporting healthcare innovations originating from Japanese universities.
