JIC Venture Growth Investments (VGI), through its JIC Venture Growth Fund 1 (VGF1), has acquired shares in KOMPEITO, Inc. (KOMPEITO), a company providing a healthy-food delivery service to offices.

KOMPEITO offers a healthy-foods delivery service, mainly salads and cut-fruits, to offices called “OFFICE DE YASAI.” It is introduced to offices through companies’ benefit system, allowing employees to purchase KOMPEITO’s products at a more affordable price compared to convenience stores and grocery stores. KOMPEITO’s service is also a concrete measure of Health and Productivity Management (H&PM), a concept that considers the health management of employees from a corporate management perspective in Japan.

The significance of this investment is to support the Japanese regional economy and promotes “local production for local consumption” through KOMPEITO’s expansion of regional logistics bases. The demand for “OFFICE DE YASAI” is currently growing in local cities where the diffusion of telework is more limited. By introducing KOMPEITO’s “OFFICE DE YASAI”, office workers can purchase the products whenever and wherever safely in the office. To that end, KOMPEITO plans to set up new regional logistic bases and accelerate customer acquisition in local cities, working together with local companies & financial institutions in the hope that this effort may provide a positive impact to Japan’s regional economy. Promoting the consumption of local foods such as fruits & vegetables will help develop new sales channels for local farmers.

With VGI’s investments, KOMPEITO will focus on accelerating its expansion into local cities,through which VGI will help stimulate Japan’s regional economic ecosystems.
